Chaplain’s Thought on Remembrance Sunday

“And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance.” (1 Chronicles 11:14)

Today we again remember with thanksgiving to God the service and sacrifice of the members of our Armed Forces who were involved in two World Wars and the more recent conflicts, such as the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Sadly our normal Remembrance Day services and commemorations will not be taking place this year because of the coronavirus pandemic, but we can still spend time reflecting on how God has delivered our nation on so many occasions and to give Him the thanks and the praise for His mercy towards us. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the Lord Jesus Christ and how He has delivered us from our sin by purchasing redemption for all who repent and believe the gospel.
